The Nintendo Switch DNS issue happens when the console, whether wired or wireless, cannot connect to the Internet. When the device connects to a network, it does various checks in the background. This might involve DNS checks, Internet connection tests, and so forth. Your switching device will raise an error if any of these tests fail.

Also, the DNS you provided may not function in this scenario, or the type of encryption may not be compatible with the wireless network you are attempting to connect to.

    Motivating factors for the inaccuracy

In addition to Internet difficulties, a few more factors might cause the Nintendo Switch DNS server error.

    • Incorrect DNS Configuration

DNS is the foundation of internet access since it resolves the names of websites that your Nintendo Switch may visit. You cannot connect to the Internet if it is not operational.

    • Security Protocol Is Invalid

You will receive the error if you have the wrong security protocols, such as WPA2-PSK, specified on your device but not implemented on the network.

    • Configuration Error

Your device maintains track of all network settings it encounters; if any of them are out of the current, you will receive an error notice.

Repairing the Nintendo Switch DNS Error

Make sure you have a functional internet connection before beginning the troubleshooting procedure. Other devices, such as your smartphone or computer, can be used to check the network status.

If it appears to be working, we may proceed to the troubleshooting procedures unique to your Nintendo Switch device rather than the network. Also, be sure you are not connecting to an institution’s network since they have a firewall to defend their network from unwanted connection requests.

Every time you modify your Nintendo Switch device, the Nintendo Customer Support page recommends verifying your internet connection. If you have a Nintendo Switch Lite, consider utilizing a USB LAN adapter with a Dual USB PlayStand or another certified accessory.

Method 1: Disconnect all network-connected devices.

This eliminates the possibility of these gadgets interfering with the Internet and slowing down. After disconnecting all devices, restart the router and the Nintendo device to determine whether the problem has been fixed.

Method 2: Restart the Nintendo Switch console.

According to online and offline studies, the greatest thing that worked for most folks was power cycling the device. There may be times when your gadget has been erroneously set. To power cycle, your Nintendo gadget, turn it off and reconnect the power cables from the beginning. Follow the complete instructions:

    • Hold the power button for a few seconds until a dialog box appears on the screen.
    • From the list of options that appears, select Turn Off and allow the device to shut down. Wait around 30 seconds before turning on the device again.

Connect to the network once it has been turned back on to determine if the problem has been repaired.

Method 3: Change the DNS settings on the server

The Domain Name System, or DNS, is a system that assigns names to all network devices or servers. When you input google.com into the address bar, the DNS converts the name into a digital representation known as the IP address, which the computer can read. This starts the computer’s communication with the Internet.

Although the DNS system normally allocates IP addresses automatically, you can adjust the settings manually to remedy the problem.

Here’s how to manually alter the server DNS settings:

    • Open the Network settings by clicking on the Network name to which your device is linked.
    • In the DNS Settings section, change the value from Automatic to Manual. Click on the Primary DNS Server option and type 1.1.1.1, then click on the Secondary DNS Server option and type 1.0.0.1. Save your modifications and start the connection to see whether the problem has been repaired.

If the addresses mentioned above do not work, enter 8.8.8.8 in the primary DNS Server field and 8.8.4.4 in the secondary DNS Server field.

Method 4: Make a change to security settings

Another thing you may do to fix the Nintendo Switch DNS settings issue is to change the network security settings. Several users have claimed that switching the network security protocols from WPA2-PSK to WPA-PSK and then back to WPA2-PSK solved the problem.

To pick the network protocol settings, follow these steps:

    • To open the Network Settings, right-click on the Network Name to which you are connected.
    • Navigate to the Security Menu and switch the security protocol from WPA2-PSK to WPA-PSK (AES).
    • Create a new password and save the changes you’ve made.
    • After saving these changes, return to the Security Menu and change the setting from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK once more (AES). Exit and save the changes again.

You can skip step 4 if the setting at the start of Step 2 is already set to WPA-PSK. After completing the preceding steps, reconnect to the wireless network and input the password that you had specified as a security key.

    Conclusion

Finally, examine your network. Adopting the above alternatives will help you resolve the Nintendo Switch wifi DNS error. If none of them work, your network may have a problem. Connect to the Internet using another network or contact your ISP for assistance. Ensure you properly troubleshoot the problem so you can play games without interruption.
